Erling Haaland speaks about ‘big challenge’ that awaits him at Man City

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has admitted it will be a ‘big challenge’ adapting to the Premier League and his new club after his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

City won the race for Haaland’s signature in May, securing a €60m deal for a striker who has scored 135 goals in 137 appearances for club and country since the start of the 2019/20 season.

The 21-year-old has already played in his native Norway, as well as Austria and Germany, and is now preparing himself to make a similar impact in the fourth different country of his career.

“It’s a big challenge,” Haaland said, via “It’s a new country, new league, new coach… new everything. I know how it is to come to a new club, I have done it a couple of times before.”

Haaland has been confirmed as City’s new number nine following the recent departure of Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal, with manager Pep Guardiola having gone without a proper central striker since an ageing Sergio Aguero left the club in 2021.
